Jo the Bride: "It was the most loving and caring environment we have ever experienced, like being enveloped in a warm hug. The whole weekend had a relaxed flow about it which is difficult to put into words."

I have another Tipi wedding for you today, the third of the week which goes to show just how popular they are these days! The venue did a wonderful job at not only providing a stunning location, but the whole weekend’s catering, the flowers and the accommodation.

The Venue

Jojo and Tim were married in two ceremonies and receptions over 17-19th May at Fforest Farm, Cardigan, Pembrokeshire, Wales: "We both wanted a wedding that represented our love of the outdoors, so hunted around the country for venues that would allow us to host a weekend in the countryside."

"Fforest Farm itself is a really beautiful place and we fell in love with it as soon as we walked in. They do a lot of weddings so they understood what we needed and made it easy for us. For example they have lovely indoor spaces in case the weather turns bad and do all their own catering onsite with locally sourced ingredients."

The Food

"The food was incredible, even more so because there were so many meals to cater for and the chefs did a fantastic job of every one. On Friday night as the guests arrived there was freshly baked wood-fired pizza and soup, and afterwards we toasted marshmallows around the fire. On Saturday morning there was a healthy breakfast of fruit, yoghurt, cereal, fresh bread and homemade preserves. The wedding breakfast was a tea party with sandwiches, delicious cupcakes and meringues. On Saturday night there was a hog roast with fresh salads. On Sunday morning we had a huge BBQ brunch with mouth-watering organic bacon and sausages."

The Venue

"Fforest were really accommodating with our plans and ideas and literally catered for our every need."

"Fforest is set in 200 acres of woodland and they dress the barn with fresh seasonal flowers and foliage from their own wild flower meadow and farm."

The Weekend Celebrations

"Saturday began with a big breakfast in the lodge. Guests played rounders, went for walks, pottered & caught up with each other before the wedding day started with Pimms & a tea party. Tables were set up with mismatched vintage crockery, cake stands with sandwiches, tray bakes & meringues..."

"We had a bonfire in the fire pit, marshmallows on sticks and once it got dark, everyone let off (eco of course!) Chinese lanterns…seeing all 40 from the top of the hill was an amazing sight."

"On Sunday morning to rid the hangover a group of us went Coasteering, while others spent the day in Cardigan, at the beach and visiting local waterfalls.  Then on Sunday night we all cooked dinner together and then Fforest filled the tipi with giant bean bags and blankets and we watched back to the future with popcorn…"

Jenny and Tommy along with their 14 month old son Ianto had a weekend wedding celebration back in May 2014. A sun shining weekend filled with their nearest and dearest, they had a great knees up.

They opted to host their wedding at Fforest in Wales, a venue which is set in the most beautiful countryside. A relaxed atmosphere with great food, drink, pretty blooms and smiles was order for their day, as they tied the knot in a rustic tipi. This is one wedding where you wish you were a guest, trust me.

The Venue

"Fforest Farm in Cilgerran, west Wales.was just magical! Accommodation for 100 people on site in luxurious camping units, some with double beds and all with wood burners meant that people could come for the weekend and have a holiday!"

"The minute we went there we knew it was the right place for us. Originally a farm it had been beautifully converted into camping units with canvas tents and beautifully finished buildings for partying. Once we had the venue the rest was easy!"

"The communal lodge for breakfast with smooth wooden surfaces and tin teapots and mugs served homemade bread and local produce. Wild flowers in mismatched vases were on windowsills and the occasional stag’s horns adorned the walls. The rustic no fuss barn was perfect for meals on long trestle type tables. And the giant hat tipi was where we said our vows and later had the band and dancing."

The Ceremony

"It was in the giant hat tipi which was decorated with our flowers, cones of petal confetti and bunches of Gypsophila tied to the poles. The countryside was a beautiful backdrop."

"We actually got married on the Friday morning in an intimate ceremony with just immediate family. It was in the stone cottage, aka the pub! Which was also on site. we hadn’t really thought much about the registrars ceremony as all out attention was going on the ‘main’ event on Saturday, but it was actually a beautiful experience and the intimate venue with just a few family members made it incredibly special...Later our guests started arriving and there was much drinking, singing and eating as Fforest prepared an amazing dinner for all those staying of spicy butternut squash soup and pizzas in the wood fired ovens. It was a late night for some!"

"We fell in love with Fforest Farm as soon as we walked through the trees into the open area of the camp so from then on we only needed to convince friends to drive all the way to Pembs and stay in domes, tipis, and crogs for the weekend to help us celebrate our day!"

"The previous venues we looked at evoked no emotion so the fire we felt from Fforest gave us the energy to plan a unique day."

"We booked everyone into the camp accommodation, planned a Friday night meal, kayaking for the Saturday morning, a hog roast, games for all the children, and most importantly we wrote and planned all of the ceremony which was in the beautiful Big Hat (Tipi)."

The Venue

"We chose the venue, Fforest campsite in Wales, for its sheer beauty and simplicity. We wanted a relaxed, alternative venue and Fforest ticked all of the boxes; a stunning setting, glamping, a vintage tea-party, out-door fires and being able to have the ceremony in a tipi!"

"We loved the idea of being close to nature whilst still having some everyday comforts.  We also loved the fact that all of the guests stayed over, so the celebrations lasted for the whole weekend."

"We both love nature and love being outdoors, so this was the main inspiration and reason for choosing fforest, with its relaxed, bohemian feel. We wanted the wedding to be natural and simple and not worry about colour schemes or things matching."

The guests at this wedding must have felt like the rest of the world had disappeared…it’s like time actually stopped and nothing else existed – except for this magical gathering in the forest.

The Venue

"fforest farm in Ceredigion, South Wales was the perfect location for us. We began our venue search with a blank canvas, and just knew that we wanted to find somewhere unique, that reflected our personalities. We found the great outdoors with enchanting beauty, and a quirky, vintage yet rustic feel, also fairly unique in what it had to offer."

"We didn’t really have a colour scheme but we did want vintage, so I guess that was our theme…country vintage; with a fusion of rustic and elegance. I don’t think there was an original idea or theme agenda, it just all fell into place as we found what we loved! Also the venue offered just this, adding bits of our personality with things like the floral bunting and music themed table plan."

The Food

"The food was catered by fforest, with an Afternoon Tea for the more formal bit…speeches and toasts etc, followed by an informal evening hog roast. The food was stunning!!! We had complements from all our guests."

Caroline & Owain got married in a tipi at one of Wales's most beautiful rural venues –fforest in Ceredigion. Featuring camping, decorations homemade by their guests and possibly my favourite proposal story that I’ve read on this blog, here is the whole wonderful day as told by the couple and captured by Welsh photographer Libby Christensen.

The Weekend Celebration

"We decided very early on that this was our celebration, and a celebration of us. Everything about it was homemade, relaxed and comfortable – no dress code, no rules, a basic schedule. We wanted our guests to have a weekend away, which just happened to have a wedding in the middle of it!"

The Location

"The location was magical. The whole weekend was in the middle of the countryside – in a forest, in fields, stone barn converted into a pub. Waking up in our tipi in the morning, with views of open sky and nature, and a log fire burning."

The Venue

"We didn’t look at any venues specifically, but just happened to consider going on a holiday to fforest. It looked like our kind of place for a weekend away, and when we saw they did wedding packages, it was an instant decision that it was there, or nowhere.
The package they offered was amazing – locally sourced food, ethically minded, relaxed atmosphere, complete freedom for customisation, exciting accommodation, and all within a beautiful natural location. What more could you ask for?"
